This one comes from something I noticed in my own life, in myself.
It's a simple idea, really.
Wherever we place our attention, our intention — that is where our energy flows.
And what's interesting is that this works in both directions.
It works when we are down.
And it works when we want something so badly that we push right past the steps that would actually get us there.
Let me start with the first one.
When I am tired, and I keep thinking about how tired I am — I'm so exhausted, I'm so worn out, I just have no energy left — something strange happens.
I don't feel more rested.
I feel more tired.
Even if I try to rest. Even if I lie down. The tiredness just keeps circling, feeding on itself, growing heavier the more I focus on it.
But then there is another way to say almost the same thing.
I was tired. And now I'm simply resting. I'm choosing the things that actually fill me up.
From the outside, it can look identical. Someone lying on the couch, someone taking a slower afternoon.
But on the inside, it is a completely different energy.
One version keeps me stuck inside the exhaustion, circling the same feeling over and over.
The other version lets me actually receive the rest — because my attention has shifted from what's wrong to what I need, and what I'm choosing right now.
The same principle shows up in a completely different way, too.
Sometimes we want something so much that we quietly skip ahead. We "overshoot" the goal in our mind — we're already standing at the finish line, imagining how it will feel.
And in that rush, we jump right over the steps that were actually meant to come first. The ones that, if we let the energy move the way it naturally wants to, we would take anyway. Quietly. In their own time.
But because our attention is fixed so tightly on the destination, we don't fully arrive in the step that is right in front of us.
We are somewhere ahead of ourselves, and the present step gets skipped, rushed, or barely noticed at all.
So here is what I keep coming back to.
Each day, it's worth pausing for a moment and asking honestly: Where am I actually putting my energy right now?
Because whether we do it consciously or completely without noticing, our intention and our attention are always pointing somewhere. And wherever they point — that is exactly where our energy goes.
This is why building awareness matters so much.
Not to control every thought. Not to force positivity onto something that is genuinely hard.
But simply to notice: What am I feeding right now, with my attention? And is that actually where I want my energy to go?
Sometimes the shift is as small as changing one sentence in your own head. From I'm so tired to I was tired, and now I'm resting.
And sometimes it's simply remembering to come back — gently — to the step you are actually standing in, instead of the one you are already imagining ahead of you.
Wishing you a beautiful day.
Choose a card and see which one finds you next.
A different story each time.
Hi, I'm Davy Jerončič, founder of Be Truly Empowered.
I created Be Truly Empowered to offer a safe and supportive space where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and better understand the patterns shaping their lives.
I believe that lasting change doesn't come from fixing ourselves—it begins with awareness. When we learn to understand ourselves with curiosity and compassion, we naturally gain greater clarity, self-trust, and confidence to move forward.
Through my writing, coaching, and upcoming book, I hope to help people reconnect with their inner wisdom and create meaningful, lasting change.
Every article on Be Truly Empowered is personally written by Davy Jerončič and reflects her own experiences, observations, and approach to awareness and personal growth.
