The Universe Is Your Waiter

Person ordering from the universe like a waiter representing manifestation and intention

Inspiration for this post

Inspiration for this post came from a client.

In the middle of our session, she sighed and said, almost frustrated,

“Why is the universe doing this to me? What did I do to it? How can it be like this?”

And I just listened.

Because I’ve said the same sentence before. Maybe you have too.

At times, that feeling appears when everything repeats. When the same type of relationship shows up. The same situation. The same disappointment. As a result, you start feeling like something out there is against you.

And that’s exactly when this image comes back to me.

The Universe Is Your Waiter

Imagine you are standing in front of a huge buffet.

Everything is there and for free. Everything. Opportunities, people, experiences, different kinds of love, different kinds of work, different versions of your life. Not only that, there are things you know and things you can’t even imagine yet. And everything is available.

You are holding a plate.

Meanwhile, next to you stands a waiter. Calm. Patient. Not emotional. Not dramatic. Just there. And he keeps putting food on your plate.

“Oh, you like this.”

“This is what you usually take.”

“Here, have some more.”

Most importantly, most of the time we don’t even question it.

Move The Plate

The moment something shifts is very simple.

If you don’t want something anymore, you move the plate.

You say, “No. I don’t want this.”

And the waiter looks at you and says, “Are you sure? You’ve been choosing this for years.”

Because let’s be honest — if you’ve been choosing toxic love, he will keep offering toxic love.

If you’ve been choosing drama, chaos, unavailability, he will keep serving that.

Not because he wants to hurt you. But because that’s what you’ve been accepting.

And then we ask, “Why is this happening to me?”

But we are still standing in the same corner of the buffet.

The Decision You Are Avoiding

So when my client asked, “Why is the universe doing this to me?” what I really heard was:

“What decision am I not making?”

Because sometimes the universe is not doing anything to you. It’s just responding.

It’s like the waiter saying, “I’m giving you what you keep taking. If you want something else, tell me.”

And yes, he might ask again, “Are you sure? This is your usual order.”

Because change feels uncomfortable.

But if you really mean it, you move the plate.

And suddenly, new things appear.

You Are Allowed To Choose Again.

You are allowed to try something new.

You can say, “Okay, today I want something different.” Try it. If you don’t like it, fine — put it down. That’s not failure. That’s clarity.

Life is not about getting it perfect on the first try. It’s about being honest enough to say, “This doesn’t feel good anymore.”

And then moving. Not standing there. No blaming the waiter. No fighting the universe. Just choosing differently.

So next time you catch yourself saying, “Why is the universe doing this to me?”

Pause.

Look at your plate.

And ask yourself gently: What am I still accepting that I say I don’t want?

Because the universe is not against you. It’s just waiting for your order.
